About Isam

Ísam was founded on 15 April 1964.

From day one the company has been focused on importing and marketing quality brands in close cooperation with producers and customers.

The decision of Procter & Gamble to award Ísam the exclusive right to import their products in the 80’s was a milestone moment for Ísam. Previously a number of companies had imported products from Procter & Gamble. The cooperation with the company has been a learning experience in the marketing of high quality brands, and has resulted in a unique market share for their products.

In the year 2000 Ísam started investing in local production companies, and bought all shares in Frón. Two years later the company bought Ora, and in 2003 Kexverksmiðjan in Akureyri joined the family of local producers. The biggest step in this direction was taken at the start of the year 2004, when Ísam bought all shares in Myllan-Brauð Inc.

In the beginning of 2022 Isam merged with another wholesale compnay in Iceland O. Johnson & Kaabber/Saelkeradreifin, which makes the merged company one of the biggest wholesale companies in Iceland. The new name for the company is O. Johnson & Kaaber – Isam (OJK-ISAM).

The ownership of the new merged company is split in half by the owners.
